My PNG Exam Results.com Slow: What to Do

The My PNG Exam Results.Com portal has been experiencing a significant increase in traffic, leading to slower response times and delays in accessing exam results. This surge in visitors can be attributed to the portal's popularity and the release of exam results.

While the portal's infrastructure has been designed to handle regular traffic, the sudden influx of users has put a strain on its resources.

My PNG Exam Results.Com portal slow

The My PNG Exam Results.Com portal's slow performance has caused delays and frustration for students seeking their exam results. Most websites on shared hosts and slow cloud servers often do not perform well under heavy traffic.

A dedicated cloud server close to or within PNG can resolve this issue by providing exclusive resources, ensuring faster response times even during peak traffic. The education department should prioritise this migration to guarantee a seamless user experience for all.

Here are suggestions to help you check your exam results.

Access your PNG exam results quickly and easily through the My PNG Exam Results platform, available at https://www.mypngexamresults.com. Get your exam results anytime, anywhere, and stay updated on all the latest information regarding PNG education.

2G/3G Network Users

If you're on a 2G network, it may be difficult or impossible to access the portal. Consider moving to an area with better network coverage, preferably near a telecom tower, to improve your connection.

For those with a 3G or faster network, try accessing the portal during less congested periods, such as early mornings or late evenings.

My PNG Exam Result App

Smartphone users can now access their exam results with greater ease and efficiency by utilising the My PNG Exam Result App. This mobile application, available on the Google Play Store, offers a streamlined experience tailored specifically for mobile devices.

Unlike accessing the portal through a web browser, the app significantly reduces loading times and provides a more stable connection, ensuring that you can quickly retrieve your results without the frustrating delays often encountered on the web portal.

Mobile-Laptop Hot-Spotting

If you need to access the portal on your laptop, consider using mobile data to hotspot the device. This method allows your laptop to connect to the internet through your mobile phone's data connection.

While it may not be as stable as a dedicated internet connection, it can provide access to your exam results when alternative options are unavailable.

This uses up a lot of data, but it will work fast.

Best Practices for Optimal Performance

If the portal remains sluggish, try clearing the cache and cookies on your device before attempting to access it again.

This simple step can often resolve temporary performance issues. Additionally, avoid refreshing the page excessively, as this can further slow down the portal.

Urgent Access for Grade 12 Students

For Grade 12 students, particularly those seeking admission to higher education institutions, accessing their exam results promptly is crucial.

Knowing your exam results can provide valuable insights when adjusting your NOAS applications

If you have urgent needs, consider accessing the portal during off-peak hours or through the My PNG Exam Result App.

Patience and Understanding

The My PNG Exam Results.Com portal is currently experiencing congestion due to high traffic volume.

Please be patient and understanding as it will improve when internet traffic slows down. In the meantime, consider using the recommended alternative methods to access your exam results.

Surging Secondary School Enrollments Demands TVET Expansion

A surge in secondary school enrollments across the country prompts a pressing need for tertiary institutions and higher education (HEI) spaces to expand their capacity to meet this growing demand.

This year alone, over 249,000 secondary and primary school (Grade 8, 10 and 12) students were taking the annual national examinations, showing the increasing number of students pursuing further education.

Stats That Matter

In a press conference just before the national examinations (01/08/2023), Secretary of Education Dr. Uke Kombra stated that approximately 249,189 students would be sitting for their exams nationwide.

This includes a significant number of:

  • Grade 10 students (76,571) from 448 Lower Secondary Schools,
  • Grade 12 students (31,252) from 221 Upper Secondary Schools and National Schools of Excellence (NSOA), and
  • Grade 8 students (141,366) from 3,538 Primary schools.
Notably, a separate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) exam will be administered to 324 Grade 12 students at the National School of Excellence.

Here is data from previous years showing the number of Grade 12 students transiting through the Department of Higher Education (DHERST) national online selection system (NOAS).

A comparison with last year reveals a remarkable increase in the number of students taking national examinations. In 2022, approximately 71,000 Grade 10 students from 213 schools, 31,000 Grade 12 students from 218 high schools and secondary schools, and 125,000 Grade 8 students from 3,433 primary schools participated in the same examinations. Addressing the burgeoning demand for higher education, Dr. Komb

Remarkable increase in the number of students

  • 31,000 Grade 12 students from 218 secondary schools and NSOA, and
  • 125,000 Grade 8 students from 3,433 primary schools participated in the same examinations.

The government must urgently address the huge demand for higher education in Papua New Guinea. With intervention, the country will see a lot of students staying in school and becoming unemployed.

TVET Expansion: Target Grades 8, 10 & 12

The increasing number of secondary school students calls for a significant expansion of tertiary institutions and higher education facilities to meet the rising demand.

To equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for the job market and prepare them for success in their communities, the TVET sector needs to be expanded rapidly.

Provincial governors and education funds from MPs' DSIP and PSIP should be directed towards these initiatives.

Final words

More students are taking national exams this year (2023) than last year (2022). This is because more students are enrolled in secondary school. There are now more students taking exams in Grade 10, Grade 12, and Grade 8.

To meet the growing demand for higher education, the government should expand tertiary education infrastructure, especially focusing on TVET programs.

GPA for Teachers Colleges in PNG (2024 Teacher Education Requirement)

To enhance the quality of teaching in Papua New Guinea, the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology (DHERST) has raised the GPA requirement for Teacher Education Programs in primary Teacher Colleges to 2.8, effective from 2024.

This move aims to capture and trained a generation of highly skilled educators equipped to tackle the diverse challenges within the country's education system.

Why the Change?

The decision to raise the bar for entry into teacher training programs in teachers colleges stems from a shared concern among DHERST, the National Department of Education (NDOE), and the Teaching Service Commission (TSC).

The goal is clear – attracting students with strong academic backgrounds to ensure that our teachers are well-equipped to shape the future of education in Papua New Guinea.

Up until 2023, the GPA for teachers colleges was raised from 2.0 to 2.4, as reported in this article. But, 2024 and onwards, students will have to score a higher GPA to be eligible to enter teachers colleges.

GPA for Teachers colleges in PNG 2024 - GPA for colleges in PNG

Revised Entry Requirement: GPA 2.8

Starting from the academic year 2024, all Teacher Colleges are mandated to set a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.8 for aspiring students applying through the National Online Application System.

This adjustment is a strategic step towards producing highly qualified educators capable of meeting the diverse challenges within the country's education landscape.

Implementation and Scrutiny Process

Teacher Colleges and their Councils play a pivotal role in implementing this change. Their responsibility is to uphold the directive throughout the application process, assuring that non-school leavers' applications undergo careful examination.

The objective is to select well-qualified candidates to maintain a balanced enrollment and prevent overcrowding, thus safeguarding the quality of education and the vital student-teacher ratio.

Grade 12 school leavers, your eligibility to apply for teacher training will be determined and indicated within the National Online Application System (NOAS).

Collaborative Oversight for Quality Assurance

To ensure the successful implementation of this new directive, DHERST, NDOE, and TSC are working in close collaboration. Their partnership extends beyond ensuring compliance; it encompasses fostering high-quality teacher training and guaranteeing that graduates meet the most stringent standards.

Non-school leavers should pay close attention to this updated GPA requirement. If your GPA falls below the minimum threshold for entry into teacher colleges, you will not be considered for selection.

Even if you manage to gain admission with a lower GPA and subsequently graduate, you may encounter difficulties obtaining teacher registration. NDOE inspectors may even investigate how you were admitted to the teachers college in the first place. Without registration, you will not receive payment from the TSC. Therefore, it is crucial to heed this directive carefully.

GPA for Teachers Colleges in PNG

The new minimum GPA requirement of 2.8 for Teacher Education Programs in primary Teacher Colleges is a significant step towards elevating the quality of teacher education in Papua New Guinea.

This change aims to attract more highly qualified students to the teaching profession, ensuring that our future teachers are well-prepared to meet the challenges of educating the next generation of Papua New Guineans.

Conclusion (GPA for PNG Teachers Colleges)

To improve the quality of education in Papua New Guinea, the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology (DHERST) has raised the GPA requirement for Teacher Education Programs in primary Teacher Colleges to 2.8, starting in 2024.

This aims to attract highly qualified educators. Teacher Colleges and their Councils must carefully review applications to maintain a balance and avoid overcrowding. Grade 12 school leavers can check their eligibility for teacher training in the National Online Application System (NOAS).

Development and Implementation of DHERST Online Selection - An Effective Solution

The National Online Selection System (NOAS), led by the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST), reflects the nation's dedication to a transparent, efficient higher education system.

Introduced in 2018, this system has changed the selection process, replacing the manual, time-consuming method with an electronic platform.

The new system empowers students and streamlines administrative procedures, marking a significant shift towards a more accessible and modern approach to higher education selection.

DHERST Online Selection 2023 - 2024

Changes in Education Sector Demands Proactive Leadership

The PNG education sector is going through major changes in curriculum and structure. These changes affect educational outcomes. Since 2018, DHERST adopted an online application and selection system. This proactive move is invaluable. It ensures the selection process adapts to the evolving needs of the country's education system.

A cornerstone of the PNG Higher Education Selection System is its in-house online platform, fully controlled by DHERST officers. This localised solution, with its dedicated local URL, offers several advantages over outsourced alternatives.

By maintaining control over the platform, DHERST ensures data security, privacy, and adherence to PNG's education policies. Moreover, the platform's robustness and sustainability have been demonstrated through its resilience in the face of external pressures, such as changes in leadership and increasing numbers of applicants.

If you are a Grade 12 students in the Admission Pool, here is what you need to know.

Development and Implementation of DHERST Online Selection

The development and implementation of the PNG Higher Education Selection System underscore the visionary leadership of Professor Fr Jan Czuba, the Secretary of DHERST.

Despite facing political challenges that led to his temporary removal from office, the system continued to function, albeit not as effectively as under his direct guidance.

With his reinstatement following a lengthy court battle, Professor Czuba has reclaimed his position and is committed to continuing his dedication to serving the people of PNG through his role as DHERST Secretary.

NOAS is a Sustainable Online Platform

The PNG Higher Education Selection System stands as a testament to Professor Czuba's well-thought-out, planned, and executed vision. This transparent, effective, and efficient selection system has become an integral part of the PNG education landscape, empowering students and streamlining administrative processes.

As the country continues to embrace technological advancements, the selection system is poised to evolve further, enhancing its ability to support PNG's aspirations for a world-class higher education system.

Department of Treasury PNG 2024 Budget Live Parliament Session

In a highly anticipated event during today's live streaming of the PNG Parliament sitting on the 28th of November 2023, Treasurer Ian Ling-Stuckey presented the 2024 Budget, themed "Securing Our Future." The Treasurer highlighted key aspects of the budget, emphasising the government's commitment to responsible financial management.

Key Budget Figures:

  • Total Budget: A substantial K27.3 billion, marking a K2.8 billion increase from the 2023 budget.
  • Revenue: A significant boost to K23.3 billion, surpassing the 2023 figure by K3.8 billion.
  • Deficit: Despite the substantial budget, a disciplined approach resulted in a deficit of K3.9 billion.
  • Capital Budget: Allocating K10.7 billion for crucial infrastructure and development projects.
  • Priority Sectors: Noteworthy allocations include K6.67 billion for Health and Education, K1.2 billion for Power and Water supply, and K1 billion for the Connect PNG initiative.
  • Household Assistance: A K440 million package to address cost-of-living pressures on families.

department of treasury png budget 2024 pdf

Education Investments - Key Points:

  • The government is significantly boosting investments in health and education with a substantial budget of K6.67 billion in 2024.
  • K4,081.6 million has been allocated for education, representing 14.9% of the total government budget.
  • The Government Tuition Fee Subsidy Scheme (GTFS) has witnessed a substantial increase from K764 million to K851 million.
  • An extra 3400 teachers will receive support with a 5% increase in funding, contributing significantly to the improvement of education services.

Department of Treasury PNG Treasurer's Vision

During his parliamentary address, Treasurer Ling-Stuckey emphasised the government's dedication to fiscal responsibility.

He outlined a plan for budget repair with the goal of returning to a surplus by 2027, further aiming to clear all debt by 2034.

Importantly, the government is supporting (and needs to strengthen) the key institutions within the Department of Education and the Department of Higher Education to ensure the effective utilisation of this substantial investment.

Economic Growth and Prosperity

The Treasurer expressed confidence in the nation's economic trajectory, projecting growth from K111 billion in 2023 to an impressive K122 billion in 2024.

Ling-Stuckey highlighted the remarkable non-resource growth, maintaining levels of:

  • 5.2 percent in 2022,
  • 4.5 percent in 2023, and
  • 4.7 percent in 2024.
This sustained growth, he noted, is historic, occurring for the second time in PNG's post-independence era.

Challenges and Acknowledgments

Ling-Stuckey acknowledged challenges, recognising that not everyone feels the benefits of the economic surge. He acknowledged struggling businesses, job scarcity, and the persistent cost-of-living pressures many families face.

Despite these challenges, the Treasurer assured the public that the government remains focused on delivering essential services and addressing the needs of the community.

Conclusion:  PNG 2024 Budget

As the live-streamed parliamentary session came to a close, the Treasurer's speech painted a comprehensive picture of the 2024 Budget, reflecting a commitment to fiscal responsibility, economic growth, and social well-being in Papua New Guinea.

Education Money:

The allocation of K6.67 billion to both health and education in the 2024 budget is commendable, signalling a commitment to the well-being and education of the people.

Importantly, it is crucial for the government to strengthen institutions like the Department of Education and the Department of Higher Education. Robust checks and balances, along with regular inspections, monitoring, and transparent reporting, are essential to ensure accountability and effective use of the allocated funds.

While the significant increase is promising, a thorough system of oversight will help guarantee that the money is utilised efficiently for the benefit of the community.

Mr. Speaker, education holds a paramount place in our society, and it is with great honour that I present the 2022 annual report for the Department of Education to the National Parliament. Our department has consistently presented its annual report to this esteemed house, underscoring the significance of education for every citizen.

Before delving into the highlights of the report, I would like to extend, on behalf of the 2.3 million children and numerous parents, our sincere gratitude to the Marape-Rosso government. Despite the economic challenges facing our nation, the government has accorded the highest priority to education. I would also like to acknowledge the unwavering support of every governor and Member of Parliament in advancing the cause of education.

Mr. Speaker, education is the key that unlocks knowledge, talent, skills, and development, fostering prosperity for a nation. It is the common denominator, the foundation upon which societies and nations are built. Therefore, it is our duty to ensure that no child is left behind, irrespective of space, gender, religion, ethnicity, or disability. Every child has the right to education from elementary to grade 12, and we are obligated to provide that.

The Department's 2022 annual report, a comprehensive document spanning 122 pages, offers insights into the performances, achievements, and challenges encountered while implementing policies during the 2022 Academic Year. I urge every minister to peruse the report at their convenience.

In the interest of time, I will highlight six critical policies, achievements, and challenges outlined in the report:

  • 1. Successful transition from the outcome-based curriculum to the standard-based curriculum (SBC), with the completion of the phasing-in of SBC into the education system in 2022. The development phase of the SBC syllabus and teacher guides for all subjects and grades is also complete.
  • 2. Significant progress in the five-year strategic plan for education reform and expansion, with notable increases in enrollments, particularly in secondary schools.
  • 3. Establishment of Schools of Excellence to cater to highly talented students, with a focus on STEM education. A total of 220 STEM students graduated in 2022.
  • 4. Decentralisation of functions and activities to provincial governments, including education laws, payroll, and salary management.
  • 5. Successful government tuition fee subsidy implementation, with a total disbursement of 792 million Kina in 2022.
  • 6. Addressing infrastructure needs and responsibilities at various school levels, emphasising the need for clarity in roles and responsibilities.

In conclusion, I express gratitude to the Marape-Rosso government, members of parliament, governors, partners, stakeholders, and the dedicated team at the Department of Education. Your continued support ensures the success of the education sector. I look forward to ongoing collaboration in the academic year 2023. May God bless you all, and thank you for your attention to government business.

In closing, the Minister's talk about the Department of Education's yearly report for 2022 highlights how important education is for our country to grow. The report talks about what went well, what challenges were faced, and the plans made to make sure every child gets a good education.
