University of Goroka (UoG) 2025 Selections, Admission and Acceptance Lists Updates

The University of Goroka (UOG) publishes four separate lists to inform students of their admission status for various categories. These are:

  • New Intake Grade 12 School Leavers (SL) Acceptance List: This list names students who have been accepted for undergraduate studies as school leavers directly from Grade 12.
  • Non-School Leavers (NSL) Acceptance List: This list names students who have been accepted for undergraduate studies who are not school leavers (e.g., mature-aged students, transfer students).
  • Continuing Students Progression List: This list confirms the continuation of studies for currently enrolled students who have successfully progressed to the next academic year.
  • Re-enrolled Students Acceptance List: This list names students who have been accepted to re-enrol in their studies after a period of absence.

UOG Acceptance List for 2025: Accessing and Downloading the Lists

The University of Goroka and the Higher Education Department officially release these lists at specified times towards the end of the year and early new year. Once released, you can access and download the lists as follows:

  • SL: Download the Official 2025 UOG Acceptance List on the DHERST website.
  • NSL and other lists: Download directly from the UOG website.

NSL, re-admit and continuing students' TESAS status

For non-school leavers, readmitted, and continuing students, it's mandatory to confirm your TESAS status. This means ascertaining whether you're currently receiving either AES or HECAS funding.

UoG TESAS Scholarship: HECAS & AES List 2025

The University of Goroka will also publish its final list of new students on its website. This list will include your TESAS (HECAS & AES) status, registration and orientation dates, and fees.

Therefore, for the University of Goroka's 2025 selection lists, typically released in January, check the official website or contact the university directly.

DHERST advises all selected students to obtain their Admission or Acceptance Letter from their chosen university. Most institutions should have already sent out these letters by now, either by email or post.

For School Leaver selections in 2025, DHERST reminds students that post-selection is still ongoing through the National Admission Pool. If you didn't secure a place initially, check your NOAS account regularly for potential offers from other institutions. You can accept or decline these offers directly within your NOAS account.


DHERST TESAS (HECAS & AES) and HELP Notice

The Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) expects new and continuing students to know about the Tertiary Education Study Assistance Scheme (TESAS) and the Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP):

TESAS:

  • Award Notification: Successful applicants for TESAS scholarships will be notified before the 2025 academic year starts through the publication of a comprehensive list called the TESAS Award Lists.
  • Offer Letters: DHERST will subsequently issue official TESAS Scholarship Offer Letters directly to awardees through their individual National Online Application System (NOAS) accounts.
  • Acceptance of Terms: Students awarded a TESAS scholarship (AES or HECAS category) must access their NOAS accounts and formally accept the scholarship's terms and conditions to secure their award.

HELP:

  • Universal Access: The HELP program offers financial assistance to all eligible students, regardless of their TESAS status.
  • Eligibility Requirements: To qualify for HELP funding, applicants must be registered students at their chosen tertiary institution, adhering to all relevant admission and registration procedures.

University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) 2025 Selection Lists: DHERST TESAS and HELP INFORMATION

The Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) launched the complete list of school leavers and non-school leavers to tertiary institutions nationwide on 18th December 2024.

Additionally, DHERST has officially released a schedule outlining the dates for the 2025 grade period, launch, and publication of the PNG Universities and Colleges Selection lists. University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) 2025 Selection Lists

The UPNG SCHOOL LEAVERS Selection Lists for 2025 will be available on the DHERST website. The NON-SCHOOL LEAVERS Selection List will be published by UPNG, check UPNG website. Also, check out this page on PNG Insight. 

Please download the PDF file to access your individual selection status, when DHERST officially releases it.

Tips for Checking Your Selection Status:
  • Download the PDF file: Click the link provided to download the selection list document.
  • Find your SLF number: Locate your School Leaver Form (SLF) number, which you used during the application process.
  • Search for your SLF number:
  • Smartphones: Open the downloaded PDF file and tap the "Find" button. Enter your SLF number in the search bar.
  • PC/Mac: Open the downloaded PDF file and use the "Search" function (typically Ctrl+F on Windows or Command+F on Mac). 
  • Enter your SLF number in the search bar.
  • Check your selection status
If your SLF number appears in the list, congratulations! You have been selected for admission to UPNG in 2025. If your SLF number is not present, unfortunately, you have not been selected for this academic year.

DHERST Expectations for Applicants on the 2025 Selection List

The university will release its final selection list for the upcoming academic year on its website. This list will display your TESAS (HECAS & AES) status, registration details, orientation dates, and fees.

All selected students are advised to collect their Admission or Acceptance Letter from the tertiary institution that offered them a place. By now, most institutions should have sent you these letters via email or post.

Post-selection for school leavers is still ongoing through the National Admissions Pool. Eligible students who did not secure a place on selection launch day should regularly check their NOAS account for any offer notifications from institutions. 

If you find an offer in your NOAS account, please accept or decline it by clicking the relevant button.

DHERST TESAS (HECAS & AES) and HELP Notice

Here are the expectations of the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) on the Papua New Guinea government scholarships, TESAS and HELP:

TESAS Scholarship Offer Letters: The TESAS list often comes out around the third week of January. DHERST will subsequently issue TESAS Scholarship Offer Letters to successful awardees via their NOAS accounts. 

If you find your name listed under a TESAS scholarship category (either AES or HECAS), please access your NOAS account promptly to accept the terms and conditions of your scholarship.

Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP): 
HELP is available to all students, regardless of their TESAS status. To be eligible, you must be a registered student at a tertiary institution, in compliance with their admission or registration policies.
