Non-School Leaver Applications for 2025 at PNG University of Natural Resources and Environment (PNG UNRE)

This official announcement from the Papua New Guinea University of Natural Resources and Environment (PNG UNRE) informs all interested non-school leavers that applications for enrolment in degree programs for the 2025 academic year are now being accepted.

How to Apply to UNRE - Download 2025 Application Form PDF

This application process is specifically for non-school leavers. School leavers and applicants for higher degree studies should follow a separate application procedure.

1. Download the Application Form: Click here to download the "Non-School Leaver Application Form for Enrolment into Degree Courses for the 2025 Academic Year." ([This form is NOT to be used by school leavers or applicants for higher degree studies])

2. Complete the Application Form: Ensure all details are printed clearly in block letters. Provide complete and accurate addresses.

3. Gather Required Documentation: Your application must be accompanied by certified copies of the following documents:

•     Transcript of academic record
•     Certificates
•     Official examination results slips
•     References from employers (if applicable)
•     Confirmation of sponsorship (if applicable)

4. Ensure Document Authenticity: Forged certificates or fake academic results will not be tolerated. Photocopies of documents are only accepted if certified as true copies by a Minister of a Church, your former Secondary School Principal, or a person commissioned to conduct oaths. Outdated certified copies may be rejected.

5. Submit Application and Fee: Completed application forms with certified documents and a K50.00 non-refundable application processing fee paid into Account Number: 1000 688625, BSP Kokopo Branch, must be sent to:

Additional Information

• Applicants seeking exemptions or advanced standing based on previously completed courses must provide certified academic records and course details from the relevant institutions. The selection committee will evaluate such applications, and their decision is final.
• A recent passport-sized photo must be attached to the application form.
• Faxed application forms will not be accepted.
• Applications received after the closing date will be forfeited, and the processing fee will not be refunded.

Tips for checking your selection status:

• 1) Download the PDF file
• 2) In the 'Find' bar (smartphones) or 'Search bar (PC/Mac)m enter your SLF number
• 3) Hit 'Enter' to check your selection status. 

If your SLF number does not appear, it means that you are not being selected to UNRE for 2023.

UNRE TESAS List

The PNG University of Natural Resources and Environment (UNRE) will also release its final NSL list for the new academic year on its website. On the list, you'll be able to see your TESAS (HECAS & AES) status, registrations and orientation dates and fees.

Therefore, check with the university for the 2023 non-school leavers selections lists which usually come out in January.

All the selected students are advised to seek your Admission or Acceptance Letter with the tertiary institution that has selected you. ....by now, most institutions should be posting or emailing you your Admission or Acceptance Letters.

As for the School Leavers selections for 2023, here is what DHERST said...

Post-selection is still in progress through the National Admission Pool. Eligible students who did not secure a space on the selection launching day should check your NOAS account on a regular basis to see whether or not you have been sent an offer by an institution. Should you find an offer in your NOAS account, kindly accept or decline the offer by clicking on the relevant button.

DHERST TESAS (HECAS & AES) and HELP Notice

Here is what DHESRT said about the PNG government scholarships, TESAS and HELP...

The TESAS list will be published on the 3rd week of January 2023 and the TESAS Scholarship Offer Letter will be provided to the TESAS awardees by DHERST through your respective NOAS account. If you find your name under a TESAS scholarship (AES or HECAS) category, make sure to access your NOAS account to accept the terms and conditions of your TESAS scholarship.

The Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP) is available to all students regardless of whether you are on TESAS or not. To be eligible for the loan, interested applicants must become registered students by complying with the tertiary institutions' admission or registration policies.

2024 UNRE Application: Part-time Degree and Certificate Bridging Courses Open

UNRE (the University of Natural Resources and Environment), previously called the Vudal Agriculture College in Rabaul, has called for interested students to submit applications for the bridging programs for 2024. 

PNG UNRE's Centre for Self-Education (CFSE) is running an Off-season intensive learning program for students who have passed through the institution or other agriculture and fishery institution in PNG with a diploma. It calls it the Taubar Session. Read on to find out how to apply.

About UNRE Taubar Session

The Taubar session is an off-season (part-time) intensive learning program designed to externalize mainstream graduate programs that the university offers to its undergraduate full-time students. 

The program runs through a 12-weeks period using a modular block approach and can be completed over a period of 2 - 4 years, depending on how the block courses are scheduled for a particular year.

What is the aim of the program?

The intensive part-time program is aimed at providing learning opportunities for potential students who are unable to take up full-time studies at the university. 

The program is facilitated by PNG UNRE CFSE. It starts early in January 2024. 

Part-time intensive Degree and Certificate program

UNRE Taubar Session will have 5 programs running concurrently. 

1. Bridging to Bachelor Degree in Marine and Fisheries
2. Bridging to Bachelor Degree in Sustainable Tropical Agriculture (majoring in Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship)
3. Bridging to Bachelor Degree in Sustainable Tropical Agriculture (majoring in Fundamentals of Para Veterinary Technology)
4. Certificate in Fundamentals of Para Veterinary Technology
5. Certificate in Fundamentals of Statistics Research/Experimentation 

2024 UNRE Entry Requirements for part-time programs

• All applicants to the Bridging to Degree Programs shall possess a diploma (in Tropical Agriculture/Fishery) from PNG UNRE or other recognised institutions. 
• All applicants to the Certificate in Fundamentals of Para Veterinary Technology shall possess a Bachelor in Tropical Agriculture from PNG UNRE, Bachelor of Agriculture Science and or two years of work experience in a related field. 
• Certificate in Fundamentals of Statistics Research/Experimentation shall possess work experience.

Advisory Notice for Continuing Students - 2025

Additionally, institutions that have not yet submitted the list of continuing students are strongly encouraged to do so before the end of January 2025.
